Grounds for obtaining a Long-Term EU Resident Card

  • Stable and regular source of income, sufficient to support yourself and family members who are dependent on you;
  • Medical insurance in accordance with the Act of August 27, 2004 on the provision of medical care financed from state funds, or confirmation of coverage of the costs of treatment on the territory of the Republic of Poland by an insurance company;
  • Confirmed knowledge of the Polish language;
  • Residence in Poland for more than 5 years.

Important!

When calculating the length of stay in Poland, student status is counted as half the time (1 year of study = 0.5 years of stay). If you have lived in Poland for 10 years on the basis of student status, this will be counted as 5 years of stay.

Confirmation of knowledge of the Polish language is:
  • An official certificate of knowledge of the Polish language, i.e. a certificate issued by the State Commission for the Confirmation of Knowledge of the Polish Language as a Foreign Language at the level of language proficiency not lower than B1;
  • A certificate of graduation from a school in Poland (such as primary school, gymnasium, high school, technical school) or a bachelor's degree or master's degree together with an appendix from which it follows that the language of instruction was Polish;
  • A certificate of graduation from a school abroad with Polish-language instruction.

Any other certificates and certificates issued by other institutions are not accepted.

Required documents for obtaining a residence card

  • A completed application in two copies;
  • 4 color photos 35 x 45 mm;
  • A photocopy of the identity document in two copies;
  • An official translation of documents into Polish;
  • Confirmation of payment of the state fee;
  • Documents confirming the right to reside in the premises.
